The “Other” Bucket:
Why traditional scale fails
In tech, we often hear a lot of talk about doing things “at scale.” But what does that actually mean? Usually, it means automating the most common scenarios (“the 80%”) and letting everything else fall into an “Other” bucket of data.
But what happens when people become part of that “Other” bucket?
When things get automated at scale, whose needs are left unmet? Who becomes the “edge case” scenario simply because their data wasn’t “standard” enough? These questions fundamentally drive the approach of Data With Style™.
The New Crisis:
Algorithmic Erasure
As we move into the era of Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models (LLMs), this “Other” bucket has become a danger zone. If an AI “Digital Know-It-All” can’t read or synthesize your community’s data, you fall into an “Other” bucket of data that risks becoming deprioritized and deleted from digital visibility in the future. When we’re all increasingly living online and using AI tools and LLMs to navigate the growing world around us, if we aren’t being pulled into the models, will the future write us out of existence?
I call this Algorithmic Erasure.
As a Responsible AI & GEO Architect, I help ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) companies proactively engineer a better future by providing Fractional C-Suite leadership and advisory services. As the founding architect of what I’m calling Restorative Digital Justice, it’s my goal to ensure that mission-driven impact and historically underinvested stories are machine-readable, cited, and sovereign in the search-to-LLM era.

As a first-generation (born here in the States) Cambodian+American woman and executive in tech, I know what it’s like to feel invisible in the data.
I didn’t have Khmer women in tech to mentor me, so I’ve always felt a responsibility to make sure different lived experiences are represented at the table when tech solutions are being built.
My career has spanned fashion marketing, biomedical research, health tech startups, and high-level civic innovation. Being with Executives across all of these industries gives me a unique lens into what it takes to succeed for Search-to-LLM Infrastructure for supporting human-centered Tech-For-Good.

About Jacky So and Where to Find Her
Jacky So | Responsible AI & GEO Architect
Jacky So is the founder of Data With Style™, a strategic consultancy bridging the gap between community data and AI. As the architect of Restorative Digital Justice, she specializes in the software engineering technology specification required to prevent Algorithmic Erasure in the age of LLMs.
She pioneered the concept to combat algorithmic erasure and engineer “Trust-First” digital ecosystems. A Shorty Award nominee for Project BRIDGE, she specializes in the search-to-LLM infrastructure required to protect mission-driven visibility in the age of AI.
As a Founding Civic Partner to grow institutional support for New Mexico’s largest software hackathon, Desert Dev Lab hosted by NM Tech Talks, Jacky enjoys technical mentorship and fractional advising for mission-oriented startups. Together, with community partners, she promotes the message that Albuquerque IS the tech and equity hub of the Southwest, and she’s happy to serve as a resource for the growing tech community in Albuquerque.
Jacky believes that her responsibility as a Cambodian+American executive woman in tech is to pave the way for others who might not realize they have a choice to build a different future for themselves.
She is passionate about mentoring neurodiverse teams and building sovereign data bridges for underinvested communities.

Data With Style™ was founded on the belief that no one should feel invisible in the data. We build tech from a human-centered perspective, ensuring that “edge cases” are included from the beginning–not as an afterthought.
Our logo features data bars arranged in the shape of an Apsara crown–a nod to our founder’s Cambodian heritage and the lived experience of being overlooked in data sets. There are disco ball sparkles around the data bars because hard work can be joyful–transformative work doesn’t have to be boring. The more sanitized and automated our world becomes, the more important it will be to fight for authenticity and the intangibles that make human connection special.
